Woman creates reusable tissue paper as coronavirus causes toilet roll scarcity

Shoppers have found themselves facing aisles of empty shelves as families panic buy across the UK - with toilet rolls even running out in some shops.

But some mums have hailed reusable toilet roll 'the solution' after one shared the unique idea on Facebook .

Its creator, Eloise Marsh, posted to the For the Love of Australian Handmade Facebook group, writing: "Introducing washable/reusable non-toilet paper!"

Each roll of the patterned paper consists of 12 squares with a towel-like backing which can wound around your toilet roll holder to be used in the same way you would regular paper.


The squares are also fitted with a plastic popper to keep them attached, ensuring 'easy use and easy to roll back after each wash'.

Eloise added: "Just to get you by (you could ration your toilet paper and just use this for number ones, leaving your precious toilet paper for number twos) or you could save a bunch of money on toilet paper by using this all the time!"

She told Kidspot that she launched her small business as a hobby following the birth of her child, but has had a high level of interest in her 'non-toilet paper'.

The post received a lot of attention on social media, with many applauding Eloise for the environmentally-friendly invention.

One wrote: "No different from cloth nappies. Innovative, well done."

A second said: "I like the invention. People would buy this."
